Can butt implants rupture during sex?

Introduction

Butt implants surgery is one of the most commonly performed plastic surgery procedures in the US. Every year, thousands of women undergo the operation to make their rear ends appear fuller, sexy, and bigger. The buttocks are among the most sexualized parts of the female body.  If you have a fuller and bigger butt, men will consider you more feminine, fertile, and sexier. Also, many studies have found that the women who undergo butt implant surgery experience improvements in their sex life after the procedure.

Sex is definitely among the most important requirements of human beings. After a butt implant surgery, your sex life will improve. Many patients ask whether butt implants can rupture during sex. In this article, we will take a look at this aspect of buttock implants. To understand how sex may affect butt implants, you should first understand what the surgery entails. So, let’s take a look.

The butt implant procedure

The buttock implant surgery is used to augment the booty. The procedure involves major incisions, through which the implants are placed inside the butt. The implants are artificial devices made of semi-solid silicone material. They are highly durable, have robust construction, and can withstand immense pressure. Unlike breast implants, butt implants are immune to ruptures and leaks.

Butt implants come in different sizes and shapes. The size and shape best for you will be determined during the pre-operative consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon. The surgery is performed under general anesthesia. After the anesthesia is administered, the plastic surgeon will make incisions on the butt. The length of the incisions depends on the size of the implants.

After making the incisions, the surgeon will insert the implant. Next, the surgeon will place the implant in the intended location, either under, over, or within the gluteal muscle. The incisions will then be sutured and closed. Your recovery period will start right after the surgery and will take many weeks. The results of the surgery will evolve over the next few weeks and even months.

Sex after butt implant surgery

Butt implant surgery is highly invasive and traumatic. During the surgery, the skin, nerves, blood vessels, and tissues can be injured. Moreover, the implants are artificial objects. They need time to drop and settle in the intended place and adjust to the new atmosphere of the butt.

Many patients are curious as to when they can have sex after the surgery, how will sex affect the implants, and whether the implants will rupture during sex. If you have buttock implants, you can resume sex about six weeks after the procedure. However, you must consult with your surgeon before resuming sex and be very careful during sex for some weeks. If the incisions have fully healed, you can have sex without any concerns. However, you must be careful when having sex during the recovery period. Any pressure applied to the buttocks can result in wound dehiscence, bleeding, infection, and poor scarring. It is important that you should tell your partner to be gentle during sex for the first few weeks. Avoid sex positions that involve pressure or force on the buttocks.

One thing that I want to make clear here is that buttock implants does not rupture during sex. As stated above, the implants are made of highly durable, semi-solid silicone that can withstand immense pressure. This is one of the best qualities of buttock implants. It makes the implants and the results achieved permanent. However, the force applied to the butt during sex can cause other problems during the recovery period. It can cause the implants to get displaced, trigger wound opening that can lead to infections, and trigger the development of capsular contracture.

Before resuming sex, the patient must take certain things into account. First off, the length and type of the incision will determine how well and quickly you can heal. If your incisions heal quickly and properly, your surgeon may allow you to have sex four or five weeks after the procedure. Moreover, the surgeon will take into account the surgical trauma caused, the implant size and placement, any pain you might be experiencing, the post-operative swelling, and the speed at which you are recovering.

Some patients are afraid that having sex will cause the implants to rupture. This is not true because butt implants are different from breast implants. Unlike breast implants, butt implants do not rupture or leak. The implants have robust construction, which makes them permanent devices. Patients should engage in sexual activities after the recovery period without worrying about rupture of the implants.

And then there are some patients that start sex a week or two after surgery. They often presume that since the butt implants are immune to rupture, there won’t be any problem to have sex right after the procedure. While there is no doubt that butt implants do not rupture, having sex earlier or during the recovery phase can cause other problems and can cause health and aesthetic issues. For example, while having sex, your partner may apply pressure or force on your butt that can result in an opening of the incisions. As a result, you may experience bleeding, slow and poor wound healing, possible infections, and poor scarring.

There is also a risk that the pressure applied to the butt will cause the implants to get out of the pocket. The patient must allow the implants enough time to drop and settle and get enough tissue coverage before resuming sex. Five weeks is the minimum time required for the implants to settle and get tissue coverage. What this means is that you can have sex five weeks after the surgery with the prior approval of your plastic surgeon.

Recovery and having sex

After surgery, the patient is required to go through a full recovery process. The recovery period can extend over many weeks. Normally, the primary recovery period comprises two weeks, whereas complete recovery can take six weeks. The quality and speed of your recovery will determine when you can resume your sex life.

After surgery, you will experience exhaustion. Your buttocks will be swollen, and you may experience pain. It will take some days for the pain to subside fully. The post-operative swelling will disappear after a few months. In light of these, patients are advised to avoid any activity that increases the risk of pressure or force on the butt, including sex.

Keep in mind that you have undergone the buttock implant procedure to enhance the aesthetic appearance of your backside. While sex is undeniably a lovely and pleasurable experience, you must temporarily avoid it to recover and achieve your aesthetic goals safely. It is a makeshift tradeoff for the aesthetic achievements. Instead, you must be sure to take enough rest and care for your buttocks during the recovery period.

During the recovery period, you will be required to wear compression garments. The garments are particularly made to enhance the healing process, protect you from complications, keep your newly contoured butt intact, and reduce the post-operative swelling. You can resume your work life 2-3 weeks post-surgery; however, sex should be avoided for five to six weeks, depending on how well and quickly your incisions heal. After six weeks, you may start to engage in sexual activities; however, you must be careful for at least two months after the surgery.

Do not engage in dangerous sexual activities that involve many risks. It is natural to have the desire to try different sex positions; however, when you resume sex after butt implant surgery, you must avoid certain sex positions. For instance, the doggy style sex position increases the risk that your partner may unconsciously touch your butt with more pressure, which can cause the implants to dislodge and the incisions to split open and lead to many associated problems.

Six weeks after surgery, you will notice an improvement in your butt. Your butt will appear bigger, shapelier, sexier, and sensuous due to which your partner will take more interest in you. This will help boost your sex life. Keep in mind that men love bigger, fuller, and shapelier buttocks.

Conclusion

Butt implant surgery is a major operation that involves the use of artificial implants to enhance the butt. One of the common questions that I hear from many patients is if butt implants rupture during sex. The answer is that butt implants are immune to rupture and they will not explode or rupture during sex. However, you must avoid sex during the recovery period so your buttocks can heal safely, smoothly, and properly.
