Butt Implants: A More Permanent Solution
The fascination with big buttocks is not new. For many years now, women from all over the world have dreamt of having buttocks as impressive as the Kardashian sisters or Jennifer Lopez. But if we can get as slim as our favorite celebrity by going to the gym more often, the same can’t be said when trying to achieve that perfect buttock proportion.
The appearance of the buttocks is dependent on many factors, and genetic inheritance and lifestyle choices are just some of them. This means that no matter how hard we work out, if the initial condition of the butt is poor, chances are physical exercises won’t get us the impressive buttocks we want. The good news is that plastic surgery can certainly help patients trying to improve the appearance of their buttocks.
Nowadays there are multiple procedures that can be performed to change the shape and size of the buttocks, but the most widely known are butt implants and fat transfer. While both procedures can be used for augmentation purposes, they deliver different results. Butt implants are mostly recommended for patients with small buttocks and no adipose tissue in other areas of the body. The lack of excess fat makes these patients ineligible for fat transfer. Moreover, butt implants are also preferred by patients who desire a more considerable improvement in terms of buttock size.
Fat grafting uses the patient’s own fat cells to augment and improve the shape of the buttocks. This means that liposuction is performed on areas with excess fat, the fat is collected, processed, and then reinjected into the buttocks. But there are certain limitations when it comes to liposuction and fat transfer. Generally speaking, the amount of fat to be removed during a single liposuction session shouldn’t be more than six to seven liters. The maximum amount of fat to be injected into the buttocks during one session of fat grafting is often about one liter per butt cheek. But not all the fat injected during a fat grafting procedure will survive in the new environment. Usually, a certain percentage of the fat transferred is reabsorbed by the body in the next two months following the procedure. Moreover, sustaining the results of fat grafting requires dedication and commitment from the patient. Any weight fluctuation or weight loss can result in an alteration of the results.
Butt implant surgery uses implants of a certain size. The implants are inserted into a pocket created by the plastic surgeon inside or under the muscles of the butt. This means that despite potential weight fluctuations, the size of the implants will stay the same and the appearance of the buttocks won’t be much impacted, like in the case of fat grafting.
For patients who want results that are more visible, a significant augmentation in just one session and an impressive projection, butt implant surgery is often the optimal treatment plan.
