There are different kinds of plastic surgery that can help if your problem areas involve your buttocks. A traditional butt lift and a Brazilian butt lift are different, but both can help improve the buttocks that you already have. They both help you have a tighter bottom that looks great in jeans or in a bikini.

Those who have a sagging butt can benefit well from a traditional butt lift procedure. The excess skin will be pulled tightly to decrease the sag of the buttocks. Usually, a large incision would also be made, and the tissues will also be modified to produce shapelier buttocks. As a result, a firm and smooth butt can be expected.

There are different approaches to the traditional butt lift and this depends on the butt that you already have and what you want to achieve. The surgeons will let you know what they plan to do to help you achieve what you want. Know that regardless of what kind of butt lift they do, the complications of the procedure are the same, to wit:

  • Scarring: A traditional butt lift procedure typically involves a long incision to improve the shape and size of the buttocks. This incision will eventually heal into a scar after the recovery period. The large scar that is formed will fade in time, but there may also be a need to undergo revision surgery to lessen the degree of scarring. The degree of scarring depends on each individual’s genetic makeup.
  • Seroma: Developing a seroma after a butt lift surgery can also occur because there is a huge area that had been worked on. The damaged tissues and blood vessels all contribute to the possible fluid accumulation. The seroma formation can make your buttocks appear swollen, and it can also be painful. A small seroma can go away on its own, but the larger ones need the help of your surgeon to completely drain them.
  • Bleeding: Excessive bleeding can occur when the sutures are not properly done, when there is poor healing or when you are taking anticoagulant medications. It is always advised to avoid strenuous activities during the first month after the surgery to prevent excess bleeding from happening. When there is excessive bleeding, it is likely that you would be confined and transfused with blood.
  • Necrosis: The butt lift surgery involves sculpting your butt tissues in order to make them appear more aesthetically pleasing. It is possible that while the procedure was being done, there was less blood supply available for them. This would have led to the death of those affected cells and tissues. This condition is more likely to happen in patients who smoke. Thus, many surgeons would advise their patients to quit smoking before and after the surgery.
  • Loss Of Sensation: Temporary loss of sensation is to be expected but a prolonged one that doesn’t gradually return to normal after considerable time is an unfortunate complication that may be permanent. Unfortunately, there is still no treatment for this kind of complication.
  • Blood Clots: Blood clots can also be formed if you do not move your legs after surgery. It is important to walk to prevent the formation of a clot in the legs. If a clot forms, it can travel to other vital organs and block the flow of blood to and from it.
